Weekends
In order to be considered a member of Cursillo you need to have attended a weekend. Southwell and Nottingham run two weekends a year, one in May and one in November. The May weekend takes place over the bank holiday at the start of the month from Friday evening to Monday afternoon. While the November weekend runs from Thursday evening to Sunday afternoon. Both weekends are held at Bawtry Hall, Bawtry, Doncaster DN10 6JH. You can find directions to Bawtry Hall here http://bawtryhall.bawtryhall.com/contact-us/find-us/
The weekend, which as stated on the home page is the actual cursillo or short course, is made up of three 24 hour periods. Each day starts with an act of worship and a meditation, and finishes with a spiritual act. The days are fairly busy, although there is some free time. During the weekend there are 15 talks, 10 of which are given by members of the laity and 5 by Spiritual Directors, who are usually clergy. As well as the three meditations at the start of the day there are two meditations on the first night. After each talk there is time for table discussions when you can share thoughts about the talk and experiences connected with the talk. During the day there are opportunities for groups to pray together, as well as activities designed to make you think. Along with times of quiet contemplation.
One thing that tends to be part of every weekend, but can't be timetabled in, is laughter.
In order to attend a weekend you need to be sponsored / introduced by someone who has already attended. Please download an application form, fill it in, get your member of clergy to fill in the clergy section and return it.
